In the Corporate Governance Symposium for Family Businesses, you will learn through theory, case studies and group activities, about the differences between the roles and responsibilities of owners, family members (those in as well as out of management), and executives, and you will explore key factors to consider in succession planning. Moreover, you will study strategies to ensure fluid communication and support in family relations and explore practices adopted by other business-owning families who successfully overcame difficult governance challenges.
Training will combine formal presentations with interactive sessions as well as the practical application of the FMO's Corporate Governance toolkit, designed to assess corporate governance of your investee companies to ultimately end up with a tailor-made action plan. The course will cover: the nuts and bolts of corporate governance; (ii) corporate governance in emerging markets; (iii) the FMO's approach to corporate governance and an introduction to the FMO's Corporate Governance Toolkit; (iv) the special governance risks and opportunities of family-controlled companies; (v) case studies and a role play exercise. The course is open to staff of EDFI’s (and other DFIs, by request) and the cost for attending is Euro 950.00. Please contact Marcella at M.Boelhouwer-Van.Schijndel@fmo.nl on how to register.
